Getting Started
Booking & Initial Steps
Booking is straightforward and convenient. Simply visit our booking page, select a date and time from our real-time calendar that suits your schedule, provide your child's details including their current year group and areas where they need support, and confirm your booking. You'll receive an instant email confirmation with all the session details, including login information if you've chosen online tutoring. For your first session, we offer a free initial assessment to understand your child's learning needs and create a personalised learning plan. This allows us to tailor our approach specifically to your child's strengths and areas for improvement.
Our free assessment session typically lasts 45-60 minutes and helps us understand your child's current academic level, learning style, and specific challenges. The tutor will conduct informal assessments in the requested subject areas, discuss your child's school experience and any concerns, and identify knowledge gaps or areas needing reinforcement. Following this session, you'll receive a detailed report outlining our findings and recommendations for a personalised tutoring plan. This ensures every lesson is tailored to maximise your child's progress and confidence.
We understand that unexpected situations arise. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, simply notify us at least 24 hours in advance, and you can reschedule easily with no additional cost. We'll work with you to find an alternative time that suits your schedule. This flexibility ensures consistent learning without penalising students for genuine circumstances. However, cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to our standard cancellation policy. We encourage maintaining regular sessions for optimal progress.
Our Tutors
Qualifications & Safety
Absolutely. Student safety and quality education are our top priorities. All our tutors are highly qualified professionals with relevant teaching qualifications and subject expertise. Many have UK teaching experience, and all are thoroughly DBS-checked (Disclosure and Barring Service) to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every student. Beyond formal qualifications, our tutors are selected for their empathy, cultural awareness, and proven ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds. We maintain rigorous standards in our recruitment process, including reference checks and demonstration lessons, to ensure only the best educators join our team.
Our Nigerian-trained tutors bring a unique advantage: they understand both educational systems intimately and can bridge the gap effectively. They recognise the cultural context your child comes from, making students feel understood and comfortable during the transition period. This cultural awareness helps in explaining concepts using familiar references while introducing UK curriculum requirements. Many migrant students feel more confident opening up about their challenges to tutors who understand their background, creating a supportive environment that accelerates learning and adaptation.
Subjects & Learning
What We Teach & How
We provide comprehensive tutoring across the UK National Curriculum from Year 3 to Year 11, covering primary and secondary education levels. Our core subjects include Mathematics (from basic arithmetic to advanced algebra and calculus), English Language and Literacy (reading comprehension, creative writing, grammar), and Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics). We also offer specialised GCSE and A-Level support for students preparing for crucial examinations. Our tutors are experienced with all major exam boards including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR, ensuring students receive targeted preparation relevant to their specific qualifications. Additionally, we provide support for 11+ examinations, SATs preparation, and general homework help across all subjects.
Every child receives a tailored learning plan designed specifically for their needs. After the initial assessment, we create a customised curriculum that addresses your child's specific knowledge gaps, builds on their strengths, and aligns with their learning pace and style. Lessons are adapted continuously based on progress, ensuring students are neither overwhelmed nor under-challenged. We incorporate your child's interests where possible to make learning engaging, and we adjust teaching methods to suit whether they're visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learners. This personalised approach ensures maximum progress and helps build genuine confidence in academic abilities.
Transparent communication with parents is essential to our approach. Tutors provide detailed progress reports at regular intervals, typically after every 4-6 sessions or monthly, depending on your preference. These reports highlight your child's strengths, identify areas still requiring attention, document improvements in understanding and confidence, and suggest additional exercises or resources for home practice. You'll also receive feedback after each session via email, keeping you fully informed about what was covered and how your child performed. We encourage parents to stay actively engaged in their child's learning journey and are always available to discuss progress or address concerns.
International Students
Support for Migrant Students
Absolutely—this is our speciality! We were founded specifically to support Nigerian migrant students and international families adapting to the UK education system. We understand the unique challenges children face when transitioning from the Nigerian curriculum to UK schools, including differences in teaching methods, examination styles, and classroom expectations. Our tutors provide culturally sensitive guidance, helping students bridge knowledge gaps whilst building confidence in their new academic environment. We support children through every aspect of the transition, from understanding UK school culture to preparing for British examinations, ensuring they not only catch up but excel in their studies.
Our transition support programme addresses both academic and emotional aspects of adapting to UK schools. We help students understand different teaching methodologies, familiarise them with UK examination formats and expectations, develop study skills specific to the UK curriculum, and build confidence in classroom participation and communication. We also provide guidance on UK school culture, homework expectations, and assessment systems. Many migrant students experience anxiety about falling behind or feeling different; our culturally aware tutors create a safe, understanding environment where students can ask questions freely and progress at their own pace.
Online Learning
How Virtual Sessions Work
All online lessons are conducted on secure, user-friendly platforms designed specifically for online education. Sessions typically use Zoom or Google Meet, both of which offer excellent audio-visual quality and interactive features. Tutors utilise digital whiteboards, screen sharing for demonstrating concepts and working through problems, document sharing for worksheets and resources, and chat functions for quick questions or links to additional materials. These interactive tools ensure students remain engaged and learning is as effective as face-to-face sessions. You'll need a reliable internet connection, a computer or tablet with camera and microphone, and a quiet space for learning. Parents are welcome to observe sessions, and recordings can be provided upon request for revision purposes.
Research consistently shows that online tutoring, when delivered properly, is equally effective as in-person learning. Our tutors are specifically trained in online teaching methods and use engaging, interactive techniques to maintain student focus and participation. The benefits of online learning include flexible scheduling, no travel time, access to digital resources and tools, recorded sessions for review, and the ability to continue learning regardless of location. Many students actually prefer online sessions as they feel more comfortable in their own environment and can easily access their school materials and notes during lessons.
Pricing & Packages
Investment in Your Child's Future
Our pricing is competitive and transparent, varying based on several factors including subject complexity, student year level, and lesson duration. Primary school tutoring (Years 3-6) typically ranges from £25-£35 per hour, whilst secondary school support (Years 7-11) ranges from £30-£45 per hour. GCSE and A-Level preparation may have slightly higher rates due to the specialised expertise required. We offer flexible packages: pay-as-you-go for occasional support, monthly packages with discounted rates for regular sessions, and intensive revision packages for exam preparation. Remember, we provide a free initial assessment where we'll discuss your child's needs and recommend the most suitable and cost-effective tutoring package. We believe quality education should be accessible, so we're happy to discuss payment plans for families requiring longer-term support.
Yes! We understand the financial commitment of supporting multiple children and offer sibling discounts of 10-15% when booking for two or more children from the same family. We can also arrange small group sessions (2-3 students at similar levels) which provide cost savings whilst maintaining personalised attention. Group sessions work particularly well for exam preparation or when students are covering similar topics. Contact us to discuss how we can structure sessions to support multiple children effectively whilst managing costs.
